In one week we are flying! The big day.
The dream to sail exists since many years, we have planned everything concrete since about one year and now…. it becoming a reality and not only a dream. In the last weeks we are very busy with “closing” our life here and preparing the travel including organizing what we need (only if its must) to take for all the family.
going away from home for unlimited time is really a big project for itself. We sold the car, making the house ready for renting, look that all the mail will be read and send to us by email, making wherever its possible automatic payment, etc. etc. etc.
Now we see how amazing our world became as far as its concern with technology. We think that we can manage almost everything via internet. I am writing it as an “IT Person” that used this media every day but now I am realizing that actually you can leave where ever you want and manage your life by keyboard and monitor from the other side of the world.
In the last days we have ordered lots of spare- part for the boat, such as: Filters and new membranes for our water – maker, water pump for our generator, repaired one electric engine for the main sail, ordered a new mast wind head unit. The list is much longer. at list 20 kg long 🙂
All In all we will take more then 100 Kg with us includes the spare parts i have mentioned above.
Also thinking about what medicine we should take to such a long trip on the sea was a special challenge for itself. We took lots of medicine and we hope that we wont need to use it and that the murphy’s law will not catch us in the middle of the ocean. Many thanks to our lovely children-doctor (which is also a friend) dr. Marc Herz that gave us directions, advised and helped to get what we need.
We pack our house in cartons. Its not easy for Sharon especially to say goodby to so many things, but actually its always a good opportunity to throw stuff 🙂
When we come to Fethiye to our boat, we will have a long “to do” list but we can make also almost everything on the way.
And our plan? In May we will be in turkey and sail from Fethiye to Bodrum or higher to the north. In June we will cross the Aegean see, Corinth- channel and then the ion see. After this we will continue west ward. Lets see how the start will be. How the children will feel and how Sharon will “enjoy” the waves and see sickness;)
BTW We did not know in what language shall we write our blog. German? English? Hebrew? I decided to give a try with the English so also our not Israeli friends will be able to read (without the great help of bublefish or google translator). Sharon will write in Hebrew.
כמובן שקראתי הכל בשתי השפות, מתרגשת אתכם, ותודה על הבלוג הנפלא הזה
שיהיה בהצלחה והנאה צרופה

Oh and will be interesting to read both you and Sharon to get some insight on a female and a man’s )different)points of view on actually the same situations,

What a big job you achieved with this blog, not to speak about the main objective : Leaving everything to sail in the almost unknown. That’s very courageous.
